 REPENT OF SINS (audio link)

One must repent of one's sins – Luke 13:3,5

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Acts 3:19 -

19
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

This means a change of heart. It is shown by a change of actions- Matthew 3:8

8
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

Godly sorrow that leads to repentance – II Corinthians 7:10

10
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Genuine regret for past sins – Romans 3:23 and a desire to both know and do what is right – Acts 2:37-41

37
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

40
And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

41
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

God is longsuffering wanting all to come to repentance and thus avoid losing their soul -II Peter 3:9

9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

When one learns God’s plan of salvation, part of that obedience to it – Romans 1:5 is repenting of sins – Acts 17:30, 31

30
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

31
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
