 BAPTISM INTO CHRIST (audio link)

One must be baptized into Christ to become a Christian. All those on the Day of Pentecost who were saved, were baptized into Christ and thus were saved and added to the church – Acts 2:36-47

36
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

37
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

40
And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

41
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

42
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

43
And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

44
And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

45
And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

46
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47
Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

1. Salvation found In Christ – Philippians 3:9

9
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

2. All spiritual blessings are in Christ – Ephesians 1:3
3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

3. one gets into Christ by being baptized – Galatians 3:27

27
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ

Please notice that baptism is the only way one gets into Christ. Suppose that one has a storage building in his backyard. The structure has no windows and just one door. What is the only way a person gets inside the building? Of course it is the one door. What is the only way the Bible tells us that a person is able to get into the Christ? The answer is baptism!

4. What did Peter tell the Jews on the day of Pentecost to do in order to be saved ?

Repent and be baptized – Acts 2:38

38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost

5. Please notice what Peter says about baptism in I Peter 3:21

21
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

6. What did Jesus say about those who refuse to believe and submit to baptism? –

They will be damned – Mark 16:15,16

15
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Paul was told how he could wash away his sins – Acts 22:16

16
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Please consider that in the book of Acts every time a person became a Christian they did so by being baptized into Christ. There can not be found one case otherwise.
